Power of the Tongue

Image
The power, potential and danger of the tongue is often not understood till it is too late.  I never thought much of the tongue or its words, but this verse threw a new light to the power of the tongue. Let me give you a few examples to understand this better.  1. Often when I was depressed or frustrated, I used to say "My life is such a waste". One day God reminded me of this verse and said, "Why are you confessing on the side of Satan? Do you understand that you are confessing death over your life? Remember, Satan comes to kill and to destroy but I have come to give you abundant life!"  Immediately I repented and said "Lord, I will never say, 'My life is a waste', or 'It's not worth living' or any such negative words". This incident taught me the importance of the words we speak and how they are seen in God's sight.  Remember Job's wife, she said, "Curse God and die".  Can you relate to such negative words you are spe...

Jesus Condemns Not

Image
What could be more embarrassing than being caught in the act and being publicly paraded by a multitude. Yes, this woman had sinned, may be wilfully. She was caught in adultery, whereas the other person either escaped or was influential enough to avoid being brought to task.  The mob was angry and raring to wield the authority of the law to condemn this poor soul and to kill her. They had the law of Moses on their side, each one carried a stone to cast on her. They wanted blood and they were authorised to get it. They brought her to Jesus, not for his wise council, but to test his judgement and accuse him for his stance. Jesus knew her heart and theirs. He said "He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first."   His words convicted the mob, they realised their sinfulness, dropped the stones quietly and walked away.  Then he looked up at her and asked " Has no one condemned you? ". She replied, "No one, Lord".  She would have been fill...

A wise woman builds her home

Image
A woman’s role in building up a family is incomparable to any one else.  God has given us women the uncanny ability to feel the emotions and needs of every member in the family and cater to their needs. Our words form a great part of either building up or tearing down our homes. Loving, kind, forgiving words have the ability to heal, build up and enrich the home. While angry, hateful or harsh words tear down relationships and peace in the home.  So take time to introspect how are your words? Are they wise and discerning? Are they building up your family or breaking it apart?  Remember, a broken family brings no joy to anyone.  Let’s ask the Lord to help us speak words that build, nourish and strengthen our homes.

What to expect?

This is my new blog,”My precious rubies”. The Bible says a virtuous woman is more precious than rubies. So you and I are precious rubies in God’s eyes.  But as women we face many challenges daily. This blog is to share a few tit bits and nuggets of wisdom from the Bible as the Lord thought me through my journey from youth to middle age as a working woman, daughter, wife and mother. Join my in this journey, as I hope and pray that every post enriches and builds you up in the Lord.
