The Bible records an incident from the life of Abraham and Sarah, in Genesis 18:9-15. Three people (angels) visited Abraham and he received them and offered them a good meal at his home. And right after the meal, one of them had this conversation: “Where is your wife Sarah?” they asked him. “There, in the tent,” he said. Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him.   Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.   So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?” Then the  Lord  said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’     Is anything too hard for the  Lord ? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and...

A mother's prayer

  A few weeks back I stumbled upon a collection of missionary biographies on Amazon.  As I was reading these beautiful biographies of missionaries who had travelled the world to share God's love, one thing struck me from these lives. It is the influence of the praying mother upon the child. Often we as mothers pray for our children, and sometimes wonder if this prayer will be answered. These biographies cited so many instances of how a praying mom left an eternal imprint on their children. So dear mothers, carry your child to the throne room of God, he will hear you and bless them.  Do you remember the many miracles in the Bible where a mother or a father went to Jesus and asked him to heal their son or daughter, and Jesus heard their request and healed their child. Yes, you as a parent have the authority to pray for your children for their healing, for their life, future and career. Jesus hears a parent's prayer and answers it according to their faith.
