Guard Your Heart

Dear young man/ young lady,

Did you know that the core of your identity is your heart ❤️.  Your heart is special, so God wants you to guard your heart and keep it pure and holy.

Why? Because, When we are careless and give our heart to people who may hurt it, we will end up with a broken heart.

When we allow impure thoughts into our heart, we may end up doing impure actions with bad motives that cause heart break to others. Some times we can hurt someone so bad that their identity itself is broken or ruined.

Think about it, today many people your age have girlfriend or boyfriend, they are committed in a relationship. Many think that it is cool. What do you think about that? How does it affect your heart?

Often we think that the other person is the love of our life. But what is their purpose of the relationship? Many a time at this age it’s just fantasy or infatuation. Just having a good time talking with them or even depending on them to fulfil your emotional needs.

But sadly, such relationships are affecting our heart and who we are even without us realising it. It distracts us from studying, makes us hide things from our parents or elders, makes us move away from God and His word. Have you experienced this?

And eventually when the relationship breaks, it breaks our heart. Each time a relationship breaks it makes a cut or scar on our heart. And if a person continues like this, by the time they are ready for marriage all that remains is a scarred, broken and torn heart. These scars will not allow them to be truly happy in their marriage. Would you want a marriage like that in future?

That’s why God tells us, guard your heart, keep it holy, remain pure in thought and deeds. A pure heart is like a river flowing with life giving water and out of this heart will flow pure and holy thoughts, actions and loving words that will bless, touch and heal everyone that it come in contact with. If you feel God is speaking to you now regarding the condition of your heart, say a prayer. Repent of any unholy relationships you are in, just ask God to help you leave it now. Ask God to heal any wounds or scars already present. Commit to the Lord and make a decision to keep your heart pure and focus on your studies/work and future. God will honour your decision and bless your future.
